Project overview and objectives
HEALNet is an online interactive professional development program for health professionals around Australia.
HEALNet will enable all health professionals with access to the internet to complete vital up-to-date training in their field. It will offer training topics available online at all times anywhere in Australia, making it ideal for rural and remote professionals who are unable to travel for training.
Training topics are written by experts in their field and are short and sharp, taking around one hour to complete.
Users can save their progress in topics, providing even greater flexibility. For example, a nurse can commence a topic, save the progress and leave to attend to work, then return later to complete the unit.
This allows busy professionals the freedom and flexibility to refresh and revise their skills in small accessible chunks, fitting their professional development around their busy lives.
The project also provides the user with one continuing education point from the Royal College of Nursing and a certificate of completion to provide proof of their professional development for each topic successfully undertaken.
HEALNet has the capability to reach and meet the needs of many health professionals in many health care settings, including metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas.
