Project overview and objectives
The project will establish the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) Online Outreach Services Telehealth facility to link PAH-based medical specialists to clinicians and patients in rural and regional areas of Queensland to support the delivery of patient care.
People can attend outpatient clinics for diabetes and endocrinology close to home and view the Brisbane-based specialist input via video conference. Specialists will also use videoconferencing facilities for inpatient ward rounds for geriatrics. Dermatology and echo-cardiac images will be forwarded from regional centres for review by specialists.
This expansion of telehealth services will also reduce the need for patients to travel long distances to receive care.
