Examination of policy and regulation relating to voice over internet protocol (VOIP) services

Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services offer consumers a number of benefits, including greater functionality, nomadicity (the ability to use the service in different locations) and, depending on their circumstances, cost savings.

A report outlining a policy and regulatory framework for VOIP services was prepared by the Department in 2005, in consultation with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
