The Australian Government has indicated that the National Broadband Network process will be transparent and accountable, with opportunities for industry and community input.
Consultation on the Request for Proposals
The Panel of Experts sought written submissions from industry and the public to assist in the development of the Request for Proposals documentation.
Regulatory issues
At the same time as it issued the Request for Proposals, the Government invited industry and the public to make
submissions on regulatory issues, including consumer safeguards, associated with the National Broadband Network by 25 June 2008. Copies of the regulatory
submissions are available on the Department’s website.
Access for areas outside the network coverage
The Government also called for submissions on policy and funding initiatives to provide
affordable access to broadband services to remote and isolated areas that may be outside the network coverage area. Submissions were due by 30 June 2008. Copies of the
submissions on enhanced access to broadband services to rural and remote areas are available on the Department’s website.
