The Australian Government is committed to investing up to $4.7 billion to build a fibre-based National Broadband Network. The Government is prepared to consider changes to existing telecommunications regulations to facilitate the roll-out of this network.
Industry and public interest groups were invited to provide submissions on regulatory issues, including consumer safeguards, associated with the National Broadband Network by 3.00pm AEST 25 June 2008.
Copies of the submissions are now available on the Department’s website.
The Panel of Experts, which will be assessing proposals to roll out the National Broadband network, will have access to all submissions and will be able to take them into account in evaluating proposals.
The Government has reserved the right to not publish submissions or parts of submissions where it considers it appropriate to do so for confidentiality or other reasons.
Enquiries about the call for submissions on regulatory issues should be directed to regulatory@dbcde.gov.au. Enquiries about the Request for Proposals should be directed to nationalbroadbandnetwork@dbcde.gov.au
