Welcome to the Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee website.

The Committee presented its final report, Framework for the Future, to the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy on 5 September 2008. The report was tabled in Parliament on 15 October 2008. The Australian Government is currently reviewing the report and its recommendations and has six months from receipt of the report to table a response in Parliament.

The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee (RTIRC) was established in August 2007. It operates under the terms provided by the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999 (File format: Word, File size: 1.12Mb) to review the adequacy of telecommunications services in regional , rural and remote parts of Australia , and to report to the Minister.
