ABC means Democracy

The greatest contribution that the ABC's makes to our nations and its citizens is that of securing our democratic systems.
Unlike the publicly owned media groups, the ABC has been able to review actions and behaviours of any and all of Australia's citizens who have or have attempted to violate the interests of this nation. The ability to call to account anyone, from Prime Minister to petty autocrats, without being coerced into silence separates the ABC from other potential opinion leaders, and Australia is one of the very few nations that possesses such an instrument and is extremely fortunate to do so.
My submission, therefore, is that the independence of the ABC to be assured into the future, and that it's journalistic role should at all times receive the funding necessary for it to perform this vital role.
