As a passionate advocate for the ABC, even though I may not have knowledge to provide in depth recommendations on the 'how' and proceed into the emerging proliferation of media possibilities, I want to make the point that the ABC and SBS deliver an absolutely essential variant to the commercial FTA and Broadband networks. Without the ABC and SBS television would hardly be worth watching. They provide a mixture of content in drama, children, and documentary style programs and topics that is fantastic and always high quality entertainment-interest.
Yes these stations play a vital role in searching out, delivering and therefore strengthening a positive sense of Australian cultural identity that we cannot afford to be restrained or compromised.
On whether there should be a Children's channel, that would be great if resources allow, but it would need to continue its current 'well being' content and prevented from any form of hidden commercial or other 'none children best interest' compromise.
As far as combining ABC and SBS resources I strongly support the 'without compromising their separate identities' basis but, in principle, leveraging shared resources would be great if possible.
A wonderful, innovative and vital service is being provided so please continue.
