Viewer Access Satellite TV (VAST) consultation
The Digital Switchover Taskforce, of the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, has conducted a consultation process on a draft procedure to certify set-top-boxes for use in receiving the Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST) service. The consultation was to ensure that the certification process does not unreasonably exclude manufacturers and suppliers from entering the VAST set-top box market. In particular, the taskforce required that certification be achievable within a reasonable time frame and cost to prospective manufacturers and suppliers.
Submissions in response to a draft procedure to certify set-top boxes for use with the VAST service closed on 29 May 2011.
Following review of the submissions and further consultation with providers of VAST services the Digital Switchover Taskforce has published the final plan, which is provided below.
