Chart 1: Take–up of computers, internet and broadband - text version
This graph shows the increases in the percentage of Australian households with a home computer, with the internet, and with Broadband over the period from 1999 to 2007-08. The percentage of households using Broadband has increased rapidly from an initial low base of 16% in 2004-05 to 52% by 2007-08. Access to a home computer has increased steadily since 1999, from 47 to 75% in 2007-08. Access to internet increased rapidly between 1999 and 2001 (from 22 to 42%) but then slowed to reach 53% in 2003, and then slowed further, reaching 67% in 2007-08.
