Project achievements

This project is connecting young Australians with a serious, chronic illness and/or disability to one another, as well as family and friends, through a safe online community.

The Livewire project has used the full capability of broadband to provide a fully-featured online community for young people living with a serious illness, chronic health condition or disability in order to provide them with a safe, fun and secure network. The Livewire online community combines multimedia content such as music, video, games; social networking tools such as chat, blogs, forums, friendships; and, is a user-generated content platform where users can upload their own photos, stories and other materials within the safety of a moderated environment. Livewire is moderated by specially trained professionals and selected experts, and offers much-needed peer and social support for its users. Livewire is fully operational and has a membership base of over 28 000.
