Department of Housing, Local Government and Regional Services, the Local Government and Shires Association of Northern Territory, and the constituent councils of Barkly, Central Desert, East Arnhem, MacDonnell, Roper Gulf, Tiwi Islands, Victoria Daly and West Arnhem.

Project achievements

This project provided shared computing and telecommunications management infrastructure and a services environment  owned and operated by the newly-formed Territory Shire Councils. The new shires consolidated the services of 57 remote and regional Northern Territory councils and assumed full independent operation on 1 July 2008.

The project provided immediate benefits for councils through an up-to-date, secure and reliable platform and delivery of business systems, intranet, IP telephony, videoconferencing and mobile computing services with superior performance and lower cost than go it alone approaches. It has also provided remote communities with access to shopfront internet services for government agency transactions, banking and other personal transactions.
