Employment in the Department

DBCDE is a dynamic department providing policy advice and program support to the Australian Government on information technology and communications portfolio issues.

The Department supports the principles and practices of workplace equity and diversity and selection for all vacancies is made on merit. The information on these pages is to help you decide if one of the jobs is for you, and includes application forms and other employment documentation.

DBCDE runs specialist recruitment programs for graduates and school leavers.

Recruitment and selection principles

Those involved in the recruitment and selection process in DBCDE will:

  • ensure selection and recruitment of staff is given a high priority within their area of responsibility;
  • make a selection on the basis of merit;
  • ensure that the processes are transparent and free of patronage, favoritism or unjustified discrimination;
  • apply equity and procedural fairness in making a staff selection or recruitment decisions;
  • ensure all documentation in the selection process is accessible to appropriate people, accurate and of high quality;
  • understand their role, and be appropriately skilled in, the process to fulfil their role in the selection process.
