Project overview and objectives
The North East Victoria Bushfire Spotting and Response Service will install a network of bushfire spotting cameras to monitor regional, rural and remote high-risk bushfire areas.
Emergency services will have the ability to detect and monitor the status of a bushfire at a very close proximity without putting communities or fire-fighters in danger.
The network will span a large regional, rural and remote area of North East Victoria, providing an unequalled amount of information regarding the detection and monitoring of bushfires.
The project will install nine bushfire spotting cameras, weather stations, a videoconference facility for emergency management, a monitoring suite, and high-speed broadband links to enable access to this vital information-gathering network.
This infrastructure will also enhance the prospects of a wireless community network with additional benefits in areas such as health, education and agriculture.
