Telecommunications research grants
Section 593 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 gives the Minister capacity to make grants of financial assistance to organisations to conduct research projects into the social, economic, environmental or technological implications of telecommunications developments. Such research can be used, for example, to increase public knowledge and stimulate debate.
The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) administers an independent grants program for research and representation projects. Please direct queries to ACCAN by telephone on 02 9288 4000 or via its website at www.accan.org.au.
