Trade engagement
The Department contributes to the Australian Government’s trade priorities including the World Trade Organization and regional and bilateral trade agreements. Australia has trade agreements with New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, the United States, Chile, New Zealand and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries. Discussions are currently underway for possible trade agreements with China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, the Gulf Cooperation Council, New Zealand and Pacific Island countries (PACER Plus) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (New Zealand, Chile, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Peru, and potentially Vietnam).
