Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is an independent statutory corporation established under the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983, which also sets out the ABC's Charter and responsibilities. The ABC provides a main television channel, two digital television services, five radio networks and a significant online presence. It also operates an international radio service, Radio Australia, and currently provides an international television and Internet service, Australia Network.

Special Broadcasting Service Corporation

The Special Broadcasting Service Corporation (SBS) is a national multicultural and multilingual broadcaster that is unique in the world. It was established as an independent statutory authority in January 1978 and as a corporation in December 1991. The SBS Charter is set out in the Special Broadcasting Service Act 1991. SBS Radio broadcasts in 68 languages continually on AM and FM frequencies in Melbourne and Sydney and is heard in all capital cities and some regional centres. SBS Television has now been extended to all major Australian cities and regional transmission areas of 3,000 or more people.
