The Department provides:

• policy advice to the Minister on the development and maintenance of a comprehensive radiocommunications regulatory framework and on specific issues as they occur;
• works closely with the Australian Communications and Media Authority which administers and exercises powers provided under radiocommunications legislation; and
• advises the Minister on the allocation and use of radiofrequency spectrum.
