The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has responsibility for investigating interference to television services from sources in the local environment. ACMA will conduct on-site investigations of interference difficulties, when required. A charge may apply.
If a television service is not provided in a particular area the relevant broadcaster should be contacted in the first instance.
ACMA is also the statutory authority responsible for planning and regulating broadcasting services. ACMA can be contacted for further information by email at broadcasting@acma.gov.au. Additional information is also available at
www.acma.gov.au.
An antenna installer can also be engaged to check current reception equipment, tuning and orientation, and to investigate signal strength in the area and any other possible factors which might contribute to poor television reception. The installer may be able to advise on modifications to the current antenna system to improve reception, if required.
Interference to the reception of television services may be related to the commencement of digital services. This is likely if the reception difficulties being experienced commenced at the same time as digital television services began in the relevant area.
