The Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme
The Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme is an Australian Government initiative to help people living or working outside of terrestrial mobile phone coverage to purchase satellite mobile phones.
Information for phone purchasers
- Eligible consumers include individuals, small businesses, community groups, not-for-profit organisations, Indigenous corporations, emergency service organisations, health organisations and educational institutions.
- Eligible applicants must spend 180 days over a two year period outside of terrestrial mobile phone coverage.
- The application must be approved before the phone is purchased. Note: The subsidy is paid to dealers, who deduct it from the retail price of the phone to consumers.

Please answer ALL questions and sign and date where asked. Businesses MUST use their entity name and NOT trading name.
Information for phone dealers
Dealers wishing to participate in the scheme are required to complete the Satellite Phone Dealer Agreement which will allow registration for a four-year period to the end of the scheme.
