Important News - Satellite Subsidy Scheme Temporarily Suspended
Installations under the Satellite Subsidy Scheme have been temporarily suspended effective from Friday 23 September.
The temporary suspension is isolated to locations in Queensland where the Satellite Subsidy Scheme is currently being rolled out.
Applications for the Satellite Subsidy Scheme will continue to be accepted however no new installations will take place until the temporary suspension is lifted.
The temporary suspension is due to the indication that some installations to date may have been undertaken in some Queensland Department of Education and Training (DET) housing where asbestos containing material (ACM) is present.
The health and safety of residents and installers is paramount to both the Queensland and Australian Governments.
No eligible Queensland residents will miss out on installations under the program, and the Taskforce is confident all eligible residences will be fitted with satellite reception equipment prior to the switch off of analog television signals in regional Queensland on 6 December 2011 and remote Queensland in the second half of 2013.
