Self-regulation

The telecommunications legislative regime provides for industry self-regulation with a view to minimising Government intervention, reducing costs and promoting industry compliance.

The External siteAustralian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) was established in 1997 to develop general codes of practice and technical standards. ACIF is funded by industry members, with the carriers, particularly Telstra, making a significant contribution.
