Section 61CT of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (the Act) required a review of the local content, local presence and trigger event requirements applying to regional commercial radio.

On 5 March 2010, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, released a discussion paper seeking public submissions. Fifteen submissions were received.

The statutory review of the regional commercial radio localism requirements is now complete and the report was tabled in Parliament on 1 March 2011.
