Section 215A of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 required a review of the relative merits of various terrestrial and satellite technologies for digital radio broadcasting services and restricted datacasting services in regional areas.

On 17 November 2010, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy released a discussion paper with a call for public submissions. Twenty-nine submissions were received.

The statutory review of technologies for digital radio services in regional Australia is now complete and the report was tabled in parliament on 12 October 2011.

The discussion paper is provided for reference purposes.
