More on this topic

The Australian Government has established a merit-based appointment process for non-executive directors to the ABC and SBS boards. Board vacancies are advertised in the national media. An independent nomination panel will assess all applications and present the government with a short list of suitable applicants. As at 14 November 2012, the government had made 14 appointments under the above process.

The appointment process ensures that all appointments to the ABC and SBS boards are conducted in a manner that fosters transparency, accountability and public confidence. A summary of this process is available on the merit-based appointment process page.

The government encourages all Australians to consider applying for positions on the boards of our national broadcasters. Future vacancies will be advertised on this site.
