ABC and SBS Board Appointments

In 2008 the Australian Government established a merit-based appointment process for non-executive directors to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Boards.

The Australian Government is calling for applications from all Australians to fill two positions on the Boards of our national broadcasters. A Nomination Panel established at arms-length from the Government will assess all applications on their merit and provide the Minister with a shortlist. All appointments to the ABC and SBS Boards are made by the Governor General, acting on advice of the Federal Executive Council.

The appointment process ensures that all appointments to the ABC and SBS Boards are conducted in a manner that fosters transparency, accountability and public confidence. A summary of this process is available on the merit-based appointment process page.

Call for Expressions of Interest

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy is calling for Expressions of Interest for one non-executive Director position on the ABC Board and one non-executive Director position on the SBS Board.

The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy has engaged Hansen & Searson Executive Search to assist with the selection process.

Your Expression of Interest must include the following documents:

1. An Expression of Interest cover sheet
2. A statement addressing your suitability for appointment (maximum three pages in length),
3. A copy of your most recent curriculum vitae (maximum three pages in length) and,
4. A Private Interests Declaration Form.
