ABC and SBS board appointments
The Australian Government has established a merit-based appointment process for non-executive directors to the ABC and SBS boards. Board vacancies are advertised in the national media. An independent nomination panel will assess all applications and present the government with a short list of suitable applicants. As at 1 April 2012, the government had made 11 appointments under the above process.
The appointment process ensures that all appointments to the ABC and SBS boards are conducted in a manner that fosters transparency, accountability and public confidence. A summary of this process is available on the merit-based appointment process page.
The government encourages all Australians to consider applying for positions on the boards of our national broadcasters.
Call for expressions of interest
On 19 April 2012, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy called for expressions of interest from individuals with the necessary skills, qualifications and experience to serve on the ABC and SBS boards.
The department has engaged Ford Kelly Executive Connection to assist with the selection process.
Applications have now closed and all applications received by the closing date will be considered in due course by the nomination panel for ABC and SBS board appointments. This page will be updated when the current process is complete.
