Report on digital television transmission and reception

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy must cause a report to be tabled on the first sitting day of each House of the Parliament after 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October until 1 September 2014 on action to identify and rectify digital transmission blackspots.

The report includes:

  • information on rectifying transmission infrastructure issues that prevent digital television services achieving the equivalent coverage and reception quality as analog services; and
  • information on local market areas and regions with transmission issues and the number of affected households.

The report gives information on the progress by commercial and national broadcasters to meet their obligations to achieve the equivalent coverage and reception quality in digital as in analog. The report also identifies likely transmission blackspots.
